Story Update!

Hey everybody! I just thought I’d take some time to update you on my current work in progress!

What Is It?

I’m currently working on an adult fiction novel.

What Genre is the Novel?

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Mental Health Awareness

What’s It About?

Without giving too much away, it’s a love story about good vs. evil, mental health awareness, and positive change in the world.

How Far Along Am I?

I’m about 75 pages in!

What Made Me Want To Write This Story?

I wanted to write something creative and fresh. I wanted to write a love story that included some other fun elements such as time travel, good vs. evil, etc. While the book is partly realistic, it also contains some supernatural elements, all while providing an important message and not being too preachy.

What Are Some of the Included Themes?

Love, friendship, doing what’s right, good vs. evil, bravery, strength, mental health awareness

Drawing From Experience

Hey everybody!

As many of you may already know, I am currently working on writing my third book. While the first two were fictional and didn’t hold much truth to them in terms of the plot, there will be some drawing from my own experiences for my next novel.

One of the central themes in my next novel will be mental health – more specifically, anxiety. Since this is a main topic, I will be using some of my own experiences with anxiety to tell the story.

This isn’t necessarily easy for me and I know that for many of you, writing about your issues or struggles can be extremely difficult. While sometimes it can help one feel better, it can also bring about feelings and emotions that can be difficult to deal with. However, as many of you know, writing about your experiences, can be very beneficial to both yourself and others.

While I write about my struggles on my mental health blog and on the website, The Seeds 4 Life, I don’t always write about them in my novels and short stories. It’s not because I’m embarrassed or don’t like writing about it, I just usually write stories/novels that are in the genre of horror or fantasy. Not a lot of nonfiction plays into the plots.

So with this being a bit new to me, I’m finding that I’m exploring a lot of different feelings and emotions while writing my novel. While I have written about my experiences with anxiety in different settings, it feels slightly different drawing from my experiences for a novel. Here are some tips that I’ve come up with for doing so:

1.) Be honest – While it may be hard writing about what bothers you most, digging deep into your feelings and expressing them through writing can make both you and your work shine. Being honest also helps you connect with your readers – whether or not they’ve experienced the same things that you have.

2.) Remember, while writing, how you felt during your most difficult times – Really try to remember how it felt to go through whatever you’re writing about. If you still experience what you’re writing about, then remembering how it feels should be relatively simple. If not, try to close your eyes and go back to a time when you felt those feelings. Then, write!

3.) Try to remember that you’re safe – Writing about your struggles can be difficult. Focusing on something that makes you uneasy can be daunting. Therefore, write somewhere in which you feel safe and remind yourself that you’re okay.

I’ve learned these above tips through writing my mental health blog, articles on The Seeds 4 Life, and now through writing my newest work in progress. I understand that it might be difficult to write about your struggles, but in the end, it can prove to be extremely beneficial. However, as always, if something makes you uncomfortable, don’t feel the need to force yourself participate in whatever it may be.

I look forward to continuing to work on my novel, and eventually, sharing a bit of my experience with anxiety with you; my friends and readers.

One Step At A Time

Sometimes stories practically write themselves. You have an idea, you start writing, and before you know it, it’s already time for editing. Other times, the process moves a little slower. You still have your idea and you may know how you want the story to go, but getting to the end is a little trickier than you originally thought.

Moving slowly when you’re working on a story or other piece of writing is okay. Unless you have a deadline that you absolutely have to meet, it’s okay if you’re not writing at a super fast speed. After all, some authors take years to complete their projects.

As many of you may already know, I’m currently working on a romance-fantasy novel with a bit of sci-fi. I am so excited for this project and am doing pretty well with it. I admit that I’m not writing every day and that I’m currently only about forty-five pages into the story, but I do love my idea and where it’s heading. Yes, I don’t have the whole thing perfectly mapped out in my mind, but I do have faith that as I continue to write, the pieces will fall into place.

I’ve been working on my story one step at a time. I’m trying my hardest not to worry about every single event that’s going to take place. Yes, I might not have all the blanks filled in yet, but I do believe that as I write, more and more ideas will come flooding in.

If you’re like me and you love your story idea and where it’s going so far, but you find that you’re writing at a slower pace than you’d like, try not to worryJust because your story isn’t being written in record time does not mean that it doesn’t have potential to be wonderful. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking your time when writing your book. Take it slow, enjoy the ride, and write the best piece of writing you can!

Writing Update: As mentioned above, I have written about 45 pages of my new romance-fantasy-sci-fi novel! My main villain now has a name thanks to a good friend that I ‘met’ through Instagram. The story will feature love, conflict, sci-fi, and much more! For further updates, please stay tuned to this blog and my Instagram page over at b.w.ginsburg48! Thank you!

Staying Focused On The Writing

In my most recent post, I mentioned all the projects that I’m currently working on. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a while since I’ve worked on so much at once. While I’m really enjoying these new experiences, it can get a little hectic doing so many different things at once.

While there are other things (such as taking care of myself and being there for my family) that are much more important to me, writing is an essential part of my life – I love it. I still hope that I’ll one day become a professional author and, in the meantime, I plan on continuing writing, and publishing, as many fantastic stories and books as possible! Therefore, while I’m enjoying working on multiple projects, I have to remember that above all else(except for again, taking care of myself and being there for my family), I have to focus on my writing.

As much as I love writing, this isn’t always easy. Especially now with everything going on, I’m spending time advertising my merchandise, books, and of course, I’m spending some time blogging.

However, I have to remember how important writing is to me. Although it would be nice to sell some bookish merchandise, writing my books and publishing them for the world to see is even more important. Therefore, that is where I need to make sure my main focus lies.

So yes, I will continue creating bookish merchandise, advertising it, and hoping that I earn some sales. I will continue blogging, posting on Instagram, and of course, reading. I will also, above all, practice getting through my anxiety. Also, though, I will continue to work on my stories and books, because writing is a huge part of my life and who I am!

Please remember that doing many things at once can be a great experience, but that in order to make sure that you continue making progress with what you love, that you need to find a healthy way to stay on track!

More About The Seeds 4 Life

Hey everybody! So while I was updating this site, I added a link in the menu for my articles on the inspirational website, The Seeds 4 Life. This site, and the fact that I was given the opportunity to be a freelancer, means the world to me. Therefore, I would like to go into a little more detail on what The Seeds 4 Life is all about. As cited on their website,

“TheSeeds4Life is a website that provides both inspirational messages and personal development articles.  All are based around a wide range of quotes in the areas of self-development, personal growth, and self-improvement.
This site was created around the idea that your mind functions like a garden, with your thoughts acting like the Seeds.  The more inspirational or positive thoughts you Seed within your mind, the more flowers you’ll grow.  However, Seed your mind with more thoughts of defeat or negativity, and you’ll surely produce more weeds than flowers.” – Matt Dire, founder of The Seeds 4 Life

I really do believe in the above statement. I know from experience that with hard work and a positive attitude, we can get through our obstacles. Progress may not occur as quickly as we may hope, but with time and effort, things can, and will, change for the better.

I have been writing for this site for a couple of years now and I can say that I am very grateful for the opportunity. I highly recommend that if you’re searching for daily inspiration, you check out this wonderful resource. Also, rest assured that I was in no way asked or told to write this post – this is something I wanted to do. I wanted to share how thankful I am to be able to contribute to this great place and where one can locate the writing of both myself and others.

I would like to thank all of the writers on The Seeds 4 Life, especially Matt Dire, for creating the website and allowing me to be a part of your wonderful team!
